Shenandoah Midsummer Festival seeking someone with Live Sound experience [Mar. 3rd, 2011|11:13 am]
Frederick, MD Pagans

irenejericho
The Shenandoah Midsummer Festival is seeking someone to assist with live sound at the festival (June 24th - 26th just outside Winchester, VA) in exchange for free entry and camping. We're looking for someone who knows the difference between a 1/4 inch and an XLR, the basics of mic placement and can follow direction from our sound Lead (Jay from Cassandra Syndrome).  There are three live performances Friday and Saturday night at the festival with the majority of sound tech work occurring prior to, during changeover between acts and during teardown after the last act gets off the stage.  If you're interested or have any questions, please contact the festival at shenandoahmidsummer@gmail.com

Hello everyone! i'm Mel and for the time being i live in frederick...

my problem is that i have a wonderful, sweet kitty named Klause. She's almost 5 (will be in Feb next yr) and i've raised her from a kitten. I'm moving soon, and cannot keep her. She's been fixed, has been to the vet once in 2007. She's an indoor cat, and has not been declawed. Would someone be interested in taking her home with them? I just want someone to be able to give her a good home. Thanks!

Hey everyone!

Just FYI, this upcoming weekend is the Annual Atlantic Coast Gem, Mineral and Jewelry show at the Howard County Fairgrounds.  I've gone pretty much every year and I always find something amazing.  There's a huge collection of raw minerals, unique items made from precious stones and fossils (one year I picked up a beautiful Venus of Willendorf carved out of solid Lapis Lazuli for about $20), gemstone jewelry...the works.  And all at prices wayyyyy below standard retail since most of the vendors don't have a brick and mortar store to pay for.  Anyway, just wanted to pass it along.  Also, here's a link to a PDF containing a coupon to get $1 entry (as opposed to $5).

Cheers!

The Beltane Fires have risen and flourished.  The Wheel now moves on, into warmer, brighter days.  Where will you be come the longest day of the year?

Midsummer at The Cove is a full weekend of Earth-Centered spirituality and fun held in beautiful Gore, Virginia (right near Winchester, just an 80 minute drive from Washington, D.C.). Participants enjoy rituals, workshops, live music, drumming, dancing and so much more, all in an open, accepting, family-friendly environment. Our retreat attracts people from all backgrounds, orientations and walks of life. The only thing we ask is that you have an open mind and be nonjudgmental.  The Cove Campground offers swimming, hiking, fishing, hot showers and more. Leashed, well-behaved pets are welcome and a fishing license is not required since The Cove is privately owned. You are welcome to bring your own boat. Please note that The Cove does not allow gasoline motors and there is a personal boat launch fee of $10.00 per day.

The best part?  Midsummer at the Cove has some of the lowest rates for festival admission in the region.  We’ll even work with you on group rates if you’re bringing a lot of people—just drop us a line.

Featured events this year:

*TWO workshops and an open Q&A with Keynote Speaker Dorothy Morrison

*A mead competition

*Live music by Cassandra Syndrome, The Dreamscapes Project, Matthew Buchanan, The Mathers Creek Band and Imakhu

Dream catchers are one of the most fascinating traditions of the Native Americans. Traditionally dream catchers are intended to protect people while they are sleeping. Positive dreams and energy slip through the hole in the center and flow through the feathers down to the sleeping person below while negative dreams and energy get caught in the web.

Journey with Native American Tracey 'Fly's With Hawks' to learn the Cherokee craft and lore of the dream catcher. Each person will create their own personal dream catcher to take home and hang!!!

$25 - includes supplies Must call to pre-register by September 5th. Have payment ready at time of registration. 301.228.2401.
